John Bonham
I guess I was 20 yrs old when he died, just started playing the drums, I always wanted to play them. Knowing my parents were not rich, I never got a kit for Christmas, until I landed a good paying job and put a set on layaway at a local music store.
I rented an apartment, and the girl I was seeing had a friend, and her boyfriend was a drummer. So they shared the apartment with us and he would teach me along taking lessons.
Well I came across many musicians that we would play with day in and day out listening to zeppelin, getting cassette tapes of his style watching videos.
In my time of 33yrs of playing i finally purchased the set he played on in on song remains the same video In 1999. Jason Bonham came to my town in Petersburg va, and I waited 1 hr but finally met him - wow!! That was awesome!
We talked for awhile and he shared some moments with me, he asked me how I liked the show, I said "Jason it was a pleasure to hear you play as John is my idle", he said "Mark, he was my idle too!!" and signed my ticket stub along with a pair of drum sticks "To Mark from Jason Bonham".
To this day I still listen to Zeppelin. It's funny when i was a teenager i kinda looked like him as well.
Thanks John, and to Jason to make my music moments come true!
