Tama Starclassic Maple
I'm really glad to have found this site. It's about time someone has the knowledge of the most kick-ass drumkit that I've played! The Tama starclassic maple!
My name is John(CHAINSAW)McCullough. I've played from the east coast to the west coast, and have never played anything but Ludwigs from the time I was 10 years old.
About 16 years ago, I was playing in a progressive metal band out of Charlotte N.C. called Vital Signz. I had a drumtech who had a 5-piece set of Tama rockstars.
He let me play them for a while, and I really liked them. The main thing that I look for is durability, cause I'm a heavy hitter, and of course that kicking boom that is a necessity.
He (my drumtech) offered to sell them to me for a very reasonable price, so I jumped on it. After that, I was sold.
After a few years of playing them rockstars, Tama came out with the Tama starclassic maple kit. I had to check them out. I was floored with their sound, and I loved the starcast mounting system.
So I made the big decision to buy a set. Not just any set, as a matter of fact Tama didn't offer a set like the one I wanted. So I decided to custom order the drumkit the way I wanted it.
First of all, I wanted the deep concert toms, metal snare and deep 24" kicks. So here is my line-up cosisting of: 2-24x21" kickdrums,a 10x11",12x12",13x13" and 14x14" tom-toms across the front.
And for the first time I decided to go with double floor-toms a 16x17" and a 18x17" for that super bottom-end!
I sweat alot being a heavy hitter but, I have always loved that metal snaredrum so I found out that Tama offered a stainless-steel snare, so I had to have one.
All my drums are inc. on a curved Gilbralter rack with heavy hardware. And I also have 2 hi-hats. Black Laquere (painted) finish and an asst. of Sabian cymbals.
About $8,000.00 value and I love them! You can check them out on Andy Olsen's website of Neil Peart replica kits. The Andy-O experience ROCK-ON!
Yours truly,
CHAINSAW.
